Overcoming the sins
no girl wants to talk about

About this page

Hi! Consider this page your “resource hub” for your fight against the secret sins we talk about in Unashamed. I hope these websites, groups, books, music and other random things help you in your journey toward freedom!

Although I believe everything here has something to offer, no resource is perfect. Be wise and measure everything you read, watch and hear by the ultimate standard: God’s Word.

Love,

Resources

An organization that hosts a blog, events, and helps support treatment for those struggling with self-harm, addiction and depression.
Ministry, blog and hotline for girls who struggle with self-harm.
A heartfelt song about giving up control, perfection, etc., and turning to Christ.
Eating dissorder treatment center for teens and women.
A top-notch Christian residential counseling center and boarding school for struggling teens. Sometimes a change of scene can allow you to make lasting change in your life.
A sermon from Colorado Community Church Lead Pastor Robert Gelinas on Romans 8:28-29. Just how does God use "all" for our "good"?
The best book I've read for teens and young adults on the subject of same-sex attraction and all things LGBTQ. Can't recommend this book enough.
If Unashamed had a soundtrack, this would be it. Songs full of honesty, pain and hope.
Mercy Multiplied offers a free residential treatment program. MercyMinistries.org also contains helpful posts and ebooks.
A sobering testimony of a woman who found hope and healing from her eating disorders.
A non-profit blog, live hotline, radio show and resource hub for hurting teens and young adults.
An online resource dedicated to helping women overcome eating disorders.
A video-based, comprehensive discipleship experience for teens that explores sexuality from a holistic, Christian experience.
Crystal Renaud Day knows firsthand that porn addiction isn't just a "guy problem." She has been leading porn addiction support for women for over 15 years.
Pastor Noah Filipiak shares from his own struggle with pornography as a teen and an adult, modeling grace, vulnerability and practical tools to find freedom from addiction.
Amen Clinics treat mental health and behavioral issues using brain imaging, which can uncover root causes not always discovered by traditional psychiatry.
Tools to help you move beyond self-harming thoughts and behaviors, so you can get back to living your life. Written by a therapist, but not from a Christian perspective.
Most secret sins gain traction because of unhealthy thought patterns. This is one of my favorite books for teens because it gives practical tools for taking charge of your mind with God's help. That's helpful for EVERY area of life!
For many people, anxiety fuels the "need" to cope in unhealthy ways. Getting to the root of the issues can help create lasting change.
This is an older book but still a good read if you can find a copy. It combines a young woman's true story and commentary to give help and hope to those who self-injure as a coping mechanism to reduce the pain they feel inside.
A biblically-based recovery program that I have personally seen transform lives from the inside out. While student groups are currently limited, see if there's a location near you. Or talk to your church about starting a Re:Generation group for students!
